TO ALL THE ODD UNCLES AND AUNTS AT CHRISTMAS
kirjutab Barry Goddard blogis ASTROTABLETALK, kolmapäev 1 jaanuar kell 17:05
The Jungian psychologist James Hillman talks about the importance of the odd uncle or aunt. We may not know them very well, we may only have ever met them once or twice, but they can nevertheless occupy an enduring and important place in our psyches. What they stand for is the possibility of a different life, a different way of being amidst the particular set of values with which our parents have brought us up. The possibility of living by the call of the outer planets. It is inevitable, I think, that there will be rigidities and narrownesses in our parents, because that is the human condition. And, as we grow up, we may feel restricted by those values, because they do not reflect who we are.

ON NOT JUDGING
kirjutab Barry Goddard blogis ASTROTABLETALK, reede 17 jaanuar kell 19:19
When we stop judging ourselves, the shadow can reveal itself, and we become more whole and more at ease. And then we stop judging others, and people start to feel instinctively that they can trust us and be open with us. And then when you can stop judging politicians, particularly the ones you dont vote for.... now that seems to be the biggest ask of all, for spiritual people at least as much as for anyone else.
The Bad Professor
kirjutab Barry Goddard blogis ASTROTABLETALK, neljapäev 16 jaanuar kell 23:59
In 2014 Richard Dawkins, Oxford Professor and well-known evangelical atheist, described fairy tales as pernicious, and said that children should instead be taught scientific rigour. In response I wrote this short story: THE BAD PROFESSOR There was once a bad professor who didn’t believe fairies existed. And if they did exist, well they oughtn’t.

Zen Koans Joshus Dog
kirjutab sarla blogis SpiritCrossing, kolmapäev 15 jaanuar kell 00:20
Case: A monk decided to test the wily old teacher, Roshi Joshu, by tugging sharply at his beard with the question, “Does a dog have Buddha-nature, yes or no?” Giving this monk the fish-eye, Joshu Roshi answered, “Mu!” Pointer: This monk is either a fool or a courageous seeker of truth; only one or the other would dare tug Joshu Roshi’s whiskers with so obvious an inquiry. Truly, for one such as Joshu, this is an insult.

Highlights for Jan. 13-19, 2020: A Soft Place to Fall
kirjutab April blogis Blog – Big Sky Astrology with April Kent, esmaspäev 13 jaanuar kell 11:00
A Soft Place to Fall Dates and times are given for U.S. Pacific Time zone. Click them to see the date and time where you are. Force and resistance I have a vivid memory of being very little, maybe about 7 or 8 years old, and my mother telling me to do something when suddenly, a light bulb went off over my head. “You can’t make me,” I observed, with dawning astonishment.

The Lunar Eclipse and Saturn-Pluto in Capricorn
kirjutab Barry Goddard blogis ASTROTABLETALK, esmaspäev 13 jaanuar kell 03:26
Under a lunar eclipse, the Moon is no longer illuminated by the Sun. She now has her true power, one that is not merely a reflection of the Sun. It needs to be sensed more than seen. The power of the feminine, which is not an obvious thing in our obvious world. And a short point on Saturn-Pluto in Capricorn (Exact last Sunday). We are moving into a time when the power of conformity, of groupthink, is likely to get stronger.

Whinges and Other Stuff
kirjutab Twilight blogis Learning Curve on the Ecliptic, pühapäev 12 jaanuar kell 23:28
Time for a wee whinge! Why is it that when a new, updated, version of something arrives, although it might look slick and shiny its never quite as handy as the older version? We used to find this phenomenon at work, many years ago when our computer programs were updated - by them as knew what they were doing - allegedly.

Donald Trump: The Bull and the Virgin
kirjutab Barry Goddard blogis ASTROTABLETALK, laupäev 11 jaanuar kell 01:32
I was watching Donald Trump defend the assassination of Soleimani, the Iranian General, and it seemed to me, as it often has, that Trump didn’t care whether what he said was true or not. You know that feeling of solidity, of integrity, you get when you are careful to speak truthfully and I don’t just mean factual truth. I mean emotional truth also, I mean being true to who you are in all its nuances.
